Here is a script that uses cURL to download a remote file using multiple computers (where pasword-less ssh is setup on each).
getfiles
Change the output and nodes variables as needed.
The results below were obtained by running on a Linux cluster at UMBC with 1Gb Ethernet. I downloaded single files from the NASA satellite data DAAC.
