Profile
Russell Turner was an Assistant Professor in the
Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Department of the
University of Maryland Baltimore County
from 1993 to 1997.
His research interests include scientific visualization, simulation,
object-oriented software design, interactive 2D and 3D graphics, 3D
character animation, and graphical user interface programming.
At Celera Genomics
he was technical lead for development of the Celera Genome Browser,
a tool for visualizing and annotating the human genome.
At Applied Biosystems,
he developed comparative genomics and proteomics visualization
tools in the Informatics Research group.
Since 2004, he has worked at
the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory,
developing visualization and simulation tools, such as the
Small Body Mapping Tool for analyzing data from
spacecraft missions to small solar system bodies.
Currently, he is a Principal Professional Staff member in the Space Exploration Sector.
