Recruitment

An employee of an investment bank died of a sudden car crash. Owing to some of her good deeds, she received a direct admission letter to heaven.

However, at the gate, she was briefly paused by God, who said, Child, this is the first time that someone from investment banking is making it to heaven. In order to ensure that the place will indeed suit you, we have this offer for you: Spend one day in heaven followed by another in hell. You will then get to choose where you want to spend the rest of eternity.

The employee readily accepted the offer. The day in heaven was nice, with angels floating around in clouds, playing the harp, and so on. However, the day in hell was simply breathtaking. It was more like a day at a luxury hotel in Vegas, only more exuberant. There were banquets and parties, good food and wine, music and dance, and everything one could ask for. At the end of the trial period, the employee opted for hell.

Upon relocating to hell, however, the employee found herself in an entirely different setting. The residents of hell seemed to be working day and night, like slaves, with limited pay, in an unpleasant environment. When she finally mustered the courage to ask God why this place looked so different compared to the trial period, God replied: During the trial period, we were recruiting. Now, you are an employee.
