Master Preparation via Internet
Overview
UMBC is offering a version of
Master Preparation over the internet
as follows:
- Lectures are videotaped and broadcast over the MBone
digital multimedia broadcast technology.
Starting May 10, 1996,
broadcasts will be Friday afternoons beginning at
3:30pm EST (19:30 GMT).
- Grandmaster Smirin will conduct
office hours
over the
ICC (Internet Chess Club). These office hours will
take place Friday afternoons, 2-3pm (EST), before the MBone broadcasts.
- Course materials
are available over WWW (the World Wide Web).

- Participants may ask questions off-line via email to

- Course announcements are broadcast over the mailing list

This list is also used for discussion among participants.

The cost, including mailing and handling, is

- Given the experimental nature of this venture in distance education,

MasterPreparation is also
broadcast on the UMBC cable TV system, which connects to dorm lobbies,
lecture halls, and various offices. Check the schedule for
broadcast times.
