Naghmeh Karimi

I have been an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) since 2023. I was an Assistant Professor in the same department 2017-2023. My research interest mainly lies in security, trustworthiness, reliability and design of integrated circuits as well as reliability and security of AI hardware. I am a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award in 2020.

I am the director of SECure, REliable and Trusted Systems (SECRETS) Laboratory at UMBC. Prior to joing UMBC, I was affiliated with the Electical and Computer Enginnering department of Rutgers University (2014-2016) and New York Umiversity (2012-2014). I was a postdoctoral research associate at Duke University (2011-2012) and a visting research assistant at  Yale University (2007-2009).

We have openings for self-motivated Ph.D. students to start in Spring/Fall 2026 in the area of hardware security, trustworthiness, and reliability as well as AI hardware accelerators. If you are interested, please contact me along with your CV and transcripts.
