Monthly Report: 04/15/2001 - 05/15/2001
Name: Honglin Su, Technology Account Specialist, Central Region
1. SUMMARY
It’s an exciting month; with John we are making significant progress in
terms of more revenue for the company and more presence at the customer site.
Always thanks to Peter Pan, Ron Marshall and Ken Kembry.
2. Accounts Activities
- AT&T Canada and AT&T
Global Network Service
- SAP project: successfully
help the customer complete the SAP hardware (a bunch of E4000s/E4500s)
upgrade project. Deeply got involved with the project planning and
discussion, worked with the customer and built a most cost-effective
upgrade path, it was not just some parts ordered from us, but also the
way to enhance the customer relationship. Upon finishing the hardware
upgrade, another two new E4500 were ordered. Also, in order to increase
the customer satisfaction and guarantee our service level, I highly recommended
John that we should push Enterprise Service into the customer at the
right time. So here came a good news, for the upcoming SAP software
upgrade, the customer booked our ES engineer for standby service.
- Vitria project: Vitria is
the middleware software, which is decided by AT&T Canada to use as the
brick for their service platform. Even we have more than 85% market share
of Vitria installation, we still fought hard against IBM. Finally, we won
the deal with several E4500s.
- While present in the
customer’s site, instantly supported a couple of other small projects,
which gave us some E420Rs/E220Rs.
- Highground presented the storage resource
management software to AT&T senior managers, we started to take some
share from EMC’s storage dominance situation.
- Did a presentation on Sun
Fire update for AT&T IES (Internet and E-Business Service, NetCom),
Ron talked about the application infrastructure for the customer.
Followed up with their team, and the partner (NetFusion), we are going to
have Solaris 8 update in the coming month.
- Rogers
- Rogers
Cable is changing hardware (E4500, E420R, etc.), Oracle versions (7 to 8),
the OS release (2.6 to 8) and other software at about the same time as
they're changing to Service Broker 5. Their IT operation support manager
asked me to assist them for an independent evaluation whether the
software vendor (Sigma Systems)’s hardware recommendation was correct. Spent
some time and understood the application infrastructure, invited ACE performance
engineering group to do some measurements of version 5, to be able to
credibly predict if the upgrade required to support 600,000 customers (up
from 325,000) is within the expandability of their current machine or not.
- As on-site
presence at Rogers, had the security pass, so that I can drop by their
office at any time. Had frequently discussion with different groups,
exchange message with John, thus helps John create a better customer
approach.
- For
other divisions at Rogers, RSS, @Home, iMedia, etc., managed the customer
relationship from technology perspective. Promptly responded the customer
requests, showed our responsiveness to the customer.
- Sun Life Financial and
Spectrum Investments

access control vs. sudo, etc.
