1. SUMMARY
A month in holiday season. Working with Ken, we are building a new support team to the customer.
2. Accounts Activities
Prompt response to the ongoing project at AT&T Canada.
Basically, it is the follow-up for the network management project, explained
and answered questions raised by the contract consultant who is responsible
to propose the recommendation for IT infrastructure for some divisions
at AT&T Canada. Also had talks with a couple of persons in their organizations,
recommended NAFO (network adapter failover) solution (either Solaris 8
update 2 or Trunk software) depending on their customer's environment.
John is getting to know more people at the organizations, at the proper
time frame we are going to kick off the lunch-and-learn program at the
customer.
Had a good meeting with people from Montreal, where Rogers Wireless
has their testing and development staff. Their immediate need is to get
a 12 CPU server for GSM system. Ken is to follow up (since I am in vacation
during the week). More activities are expected, by taking care of them,
it will be very productive and another great Sun shop for us.
The manufacturer shipped 4 new E3500 (each as 2 x 400MHz CPU)
to the customer last month, however, 400MHz CPU is not what the customer
put in the order. Instead, they are using 336MHz CPU for a very specific
reason. The 400MHz CPU modules got to be replaced ASAP, but regular return
channel would take long time. So Dave Mason coordinated with the reseller
(PDS), I talked with our ES people, the reseller got 336MHz
CPU modules from their channel, thank Rod Noble of ES, who went to Motorola
and replaced 400MHz CPU modules, and the customer is happy.
Recommended a workgroup server for the Web project at the Securities
division. Had talk with people there, made plan for the future support,
like product and technology update in the coming months.
