Move forward the SunRay pilot project at Fidelity. 2. Accounts Activities + CDS (Canadian Depository of Securities Limited) An IBM shop, but we managed to enter this account with 8 workgroup servers (E450, E420R, and E220R) for their ITRS project. This account might not be Fernando's in the coming fiscal year, but in order to guarantee customer's satisfaction, when the new servers arrived, I was also in the customer's site to monitor the installation procedure with ES engineers. + CI Mutual Funds Complicated paper works were done for their tape library L700 and new storage T3. Met their IT staff at the network storage launch event, understood their technical requirement and any potential concerns, worked with ES engineers, e.g. George to solve the problem. + Fidelity Investments Worked with E-Business division, we reviewed the plan for the Sun Ray pilot project, and have identified the key applications to be tested: AXIS, World Class, StarOffice and CS image (MSOffice, etc.). For this phase, Sun delivered the hardware (1 Sun Ray server, 2 Sun Ray 1 Enterprise appliances, 2 monitors, 1 switch, and 2 smart cards). Fidelity and Sun together set up the testing environment. Fidelity will be responsible for the network connection (create an isolated LAN for this purpose) and build the application testing scenario (Netscape, StarOffice, database of AXIS, World class, Citrix metaframe to access NT software, etc.). I will schedule regular meetings with their E-Business division including their executive sponsor (VP of Information System), and drive this project. Many thanks for Olivia for her in-depth knowledge in Sun Ray and kindly support. Netra t1 server model 105 was used for Sun Ray server, in order to set up the testing environment at Fidelity smoothly, I did the whole procedure at the loaner room, including applying special patches for Netra t1. It's also great to help team member for similar hands-on set up. + Merrill Lynch A very important account for us, L700 tape library was ordered. In order to discover more opportunity, I also spent time to meet their IT architect, exchange ideas on the current technology trend: thin desktop (Sun Ray), XML, new application, etc. Also keep an eye on what is going at Merrill Lynch, we are facing competition from IBM, who invited ML IT people for a free training on IBM's new RS/6000 server and operating system AIX. However, for me, I will tenderly take care of the customer and deliver quick and qualified support. + Morgan Stanley Reviewed their configuration for new servers (workgroup level), and gave them quick response for all their requests. 3. TRAINING SUMMARY 4. Other Activities + A lot of funs in the month, TGIF giveaway, BBQ at Les's home, Central region 6/30 BBQ, and Sun Canada 15 anniversary. + Oracle iDevelop'2000 support, worked with people from headquarters, Sun without any doubt, had the biggest traffic of all to both the kiosk and the two sessions. Thank my wife, she also spent half a day on Sunday and help us set up the demo and booth at National Exhibition Centre. + Task team portal.com: prepared relevant information on content provider and certificate server; + Task team business.com: conducted research on XML , SOAP, and development tools 5. PLAN FOR THE UPCOMING MONTH + Fidelity Sun Ray pilot project: Until now, we have discussed 3 separate products. To clarify, they are: Sun Ray 1 Enterprise Appliance, StarPortal, iPlanet Portal Server (formerly known as iPlanet WebTop).
