Simplex protocol for noisy channel

• Solution: Mechanism to distinguish between a first- time and a retransmitted frame.

  • Place sequence numbers in header of each frame.

• Max number of bits needed for sequence numbers? ANSWER: 1 (0 or 1).

• This kind of protocol is called ARQ (Automatic Repeat reQuest)
