  1. Solving recurrence relations
  2. Divide & Conquer algorithms (including: median, partition, quicksort, merge sort)
  3. Dynamic Programming
  4. Greedy Algorithms

• [Mon Nov 08 13:55 2004]  Since the third question on Homework 9 is on Depth-First Search which we have not yet covered in lecture, we'll save that question (Exercise 22.3-7) for next time (HW10). So, just turn in the first two questions tomorrow.

• [Tue Oct 26 17:29 2004]  It was announced in class today that the topic for the question on Quiz 4 is dynamic programming.

• [Tue Oct 26 17:27 2004]  A previously posted "hint" for Homework 8 made no sense at all. It was for a different version of this problem that included gas prices. (That's what happens when you post stuff at 12:30am.)

  1. Someone asked about the topic for Quiz 3 after class today. The question for Quiz 3 will be taken from the topic of Quicksort/Partition/Selection --- Chapters 7 & 9 of the textbook.
     
     
  2. Next week, I will send out a copy of your grades so far by email, so you can check that your scores for HW 1-4, Quiz 1 and Quiz 2 were entered properly. If you don't want to receive your grades by email, please let me know. Alternatively, if you use GPG, I'll be happy to encrypt your grade report before sending it along --- just email me your public key.
