• Sunday 4/5, 10:05pm:  There was a small error in the midterm report cards. I calculated Exam 2 out of 54 points instead of 50 points. This means your total points from exams and total points is a bit higher than what the report says. If your grade on Exam 2 is x, then your total points should be x*0.0296296 points higher. Hey, you make a few mistakes at 12:40 in the morning.

• Sunday 4/5, 12:40am:  A "midterm report card" has been sent out. The report includes your grades from Project 1, Project 2, Exam 1 and Exam 2.

• Friday 3/27, 9:20am:  Project 2 grades are being sent out by email. You should receive yours shortly --- unless you screwed up your mail somehow.

• Thursday 3/19, 7:57pm:  It was announced in lecture this morning that the deadline for Project 3 was extended. See Project 3 Notes for details. These notes have also been updated with a list of some common bugs.

• Sunday 3/8, 12:21pm:  Additions made to notes for Project 3. Sample input/output and a sample driver program is available.

• Friday 3/6, 5:53pm:  Grades for Project 1 have been mailed out. The messages are signed using PGP. If you do not get an email message with your grade, check that you haven't exceeded your disk quota or perverted the mail system in some other way. After some grumbling, I'll resend the message.

• Thursday 3/5, 11:20pm:  I started a web page to keep a running log of notes for Project 3. These will mostly be answers to good questions that the students have asked.

• Thursday 3/5, 12:25am:  Much of lecture on Thursday will be spent discussing Project 3. Discussion sections over the next week will also cover Project 3. You need to attend these lectures and discussions. Lecture notes on the web page for Thursday will be sparse and in particular will not contain diagrams of the data structures I draw on the whiteboard.

• Thursday 3/5, 12:25am:  Exam 1 has been graded and will be returned to you during discussion.

• Saturday 2/7, 2:00pm:  I closed the check-in page. You should have checked in by now. If you haven't, you're in trouble because you won't be able to submit your projects.

• Friday 2/6, 2:00pm: 
  • The new Wednesday recitation section is officially open. You should be able to register for this section through EASI/STARS using class #7840. Students who wish to switch sections should do so by Monday, February 9th.
  • Copies of "Understanding Pointers in C" are now available in the UMBC Bookstore.
  • TA office hours are posted on the contacts page
  • The Computer Science Help Center will be open for business on Monday. Their hours of operation and schedule are posted online.

• Monday 2/2, 11:00am:  The UMBC Bookstore should have copies of "Understanding Pointers in C" ready by the end of the week.

• Saturday 1/31, 9:17pm:  I've set up the submit directories for this class. The class name for this class is "cs202-01". Notice that there is a hyphen in the class name, not an underscore. The project names are "proj1", "proj2", "proj3", "proj4" and "proj5".

  For example, if the name of your project 1 file is "p1.c", then you can issue the following command to submit project 1:

  submit cs202-01 proj1 p1.c

  The "proj1" directory is open for submissions from Monday, February 9 through Friday, February 13. In general, the project directories will be open for submission from Monday through Friday on the week that the project is due.

  I have set up a "proj0" directory, too. You can test submit a file to this directory, if you wish. The proj0 directory is open for submissions from now until Tuesday, February 10.

  If you checked in late, I might not have added your account to the list of accounts allowed to submit to cs202-01. This will be done in due time. If you have not checked in yet, do so immediately!.

• Friday 1/30, 8:45pm: 
  • Good(?) News: everyone who requested to add the course will be allowed to register.
  • Bad News: EASI seems to be broken. So you probably have to wait until Monday afternoon to really register, because I haven't been able to add your SSN to the system.

• Friday 1/30, 8:40pm:  I mailed out confirmation notices to people who've checked in. If you checked in but did not receive a confirmation notice, either one of the following might be the case:
  • You typed in the wrong email address! (Grrr... I got bounced mail.)
  • Your disk quota is full. I'll assume that, it's because you are hard at work and all those core dumps used up your disk space. Yeah Right! Delete some of those big files now.

• Thursday 1/29:  The notes "Understanding Pointers in C" by Prof. Mayfield are not yet available at the Bookstore. I have to file some paperwork first. I will post a note here when they are available.
